Village
Renewal

Vietnam

In some villages, children are brought in from a broad area to a central boarding school. 200-400 children may live at the school, which can double the village population and strain scarce resources. In such cases, Orphan Voice partners act to help. They install electricity in student "bunkhouses." Or update kitchen equipment so that students can be more easily and better fed.

At other times, Orphan Voice partners invest in village community centers where adult education takes place - usually with a health education focus. Clean water is a critical need. Wells are dug, and water purification systems are installed. Proper and sanitary latrines are built.

Laos

The need for clean water is urgent in many poor villages across Laos. Streams, rivers, and unprotected wells may be contaminated with animal waste, fertilizer and pesticide runoff, and even human waste (villages may lack proper latrines). Disease can spread quickly.

Orphan Voice partners work with local churches and village elders to dig wells to provide safe drinking water for children and families. At other times, our partners install village-wide water purification equipment into water systems already in place. Proper and sanitary communal latrines are built. In these ways and more, God is pleased, and the people are healthier.
