The words cut into the heart of young Minh. Just that morning, he had been excited to learn that the Promise House family would enjoy a trip to an area amusement park. He had heard other kids talk about the place, and it sounded FUN! So he went to school excited to share the news with his classmates. “How would you have the money for that?” one boy sneered. Minh’s face fell along with his self-worth. Would he always be on the “outside” — a “poor orphan”?
The field trip was lovingly provided by a visiting team and meticulously planned by dedicated Orphan Voice staff. And what a day it was! The park offered swimming, rides, and a “safari section.” He had never seen animals like this before! He was captivated by the beauty of the deer corral and the funny antics of the meerkats.

Too young to drive, Minh was the passenger, riding with one of our team at the Bumper Cars.
The week after the trip, Minh proudly returned to school with small snapshots of all that he had done and experienced. His friends “oooh-ed” and “ahhh-ed” appropriately. He still keeps the pictures with him most days, tucked safely in his pocket, ready evidence of an unforgettable day of childlike wonder and unfettered joy.
