You showed Tâm His love!

In 2006, a young expecting mother moved from her small province to the heart of Danang, hoping for a fresh start. Her world had been crushed when the father of her baby refused to help her and cut all ties. So, she, along with her elderly mother, came to the city to give birth and start a new life all on her own. Soon after, she gave birth to Tâm.

As Tâm grew up, she lived with her mother and grandmother in many different places. They were constantly moving, as Tâm’s mother had to change jobs often just to survive. A few years ago, her mother found a job at a noodle factory, and they have been staying in a crowded and noisy room nearby.

The room is less than 30 x 30 feet and constantly damp, with water dripping from the ceiling and walls. The air often smells musty. The three survive with barely functioning electricity and no water heater to keep them warm in the winter. Despite these circumstances, Tâm is now a first-year student at a university, majoring in Korean language and interpretation. She often tries to find part-time jobs to help support her family, but it’s not easy. Her grandmother is growing older everyday, and displays signs of paranoia. Sometimes, her grandmother even gets lost, yells, or acts out, and often Tâm has to stay at home to take care of her. This makes it almost impossible for her to keep any job. Although she is studying her dream program, Tâm often feels discouraged with her situation and unsure if she will be able to continue pursuing her education.

In the midst of her despair, you showed up. Tâm met one of the Orphan Voice staff you provided and told them about her situation. Right away, it was clear that without intervention, Tâm was at risk of dropping out, or even worse, being taken advantage of. Thanks to your generosity, Tâm began receiving help with food, transportation, and even tuition, so that she could begin to feel stable enough to focus on her studies.

Tâm: “Small amounts like 20,000 or 30,000 VND ($1-2) may not mean much for others. But to me, that could be a meal... receiving monthly support is something I never imagined. I sincerely thank all the sponsors and kind people who care about my situation.”

Something to celebrate: Tâm accepted Christ as her savior just over a year ago. Now, she actively participates in a youth group at her church and is so much more joyful and energetic. Although her situation is still difficult, Tâm is full of hope. Because you believed in her, her heart is full, and her burden is lighter. Thank you for showing her the love and saving grace of Jesus!
