Baby Minh is peaceful in Vy’s loving arms. You are supporting her courageous decision to raise her son!
Most of Vy’s friends told her to send her tiny son Minh to an orphanage. In the local culture, it seemed logical. Vy is Deaf and became a mother at the age of 19, the result of a horrific assault. Logical or not, Vy cannot imagine her life without Minh.
Vy’s life has been hard. Her parents had an arranged marriage and her mother abandoned the family when Vy was two. Her father suffers from mental illness and is unable to provide any support.
Vy works for a local tailor. Her modest salary was just enough until Minh became sick and Vy had to stay home to care for him. To get back on her feet, the immediate needs are formula, diapers, and childcare. Small things, but they enable Vy to keep her little family together and her son OUT of a government orphanage. YOU are doing that!
