Minh dreaded going to public school. “I could see everything the teacher did. I could see her mouth move. I could see the other students' mouths move. But I couldn’t hear them. I felt so confused - like I was in a room walled with mirrors. I never understood anything."

At at parent-teacher conference to discuss Minh's beating, the parents of the offending boys shouted to his parents: "You're son is mentally retarded."
Minh no longer dreads going to public school - because He doesn't go to public school anymore. Instead, he attends New Beginnings School for the Deaf and loves it!
Because you provide Christian teachers for him at New Beginnings, Minh knows that God loves him and that he is valuable in God’s sight. That knowledge is transforming his life.
Learning to sign is the practical skill that has helped Minh most. He now communicates with his teacher and with the other students. No more seeing but not understanding. No more rooms walled with mirrors!
He's made friends! He loves to play with his classmates at recess.
Learning to read and write and do basic math is important too. Minh is being equipped to participate in "real world life" outside the classroom. He can now handle money at stores and protect himself from being cheated. He can read and write, and will be able to hold a job that requires those skills. In short, after finishing New Beginnings, he'll be able to support himself!
