You gave her a chance!

Ny was born to a mother who, like all parents, dreamed of a healthy child—one who could run, play, and speak. In the early years, those dreams seemed to be coming true as Ny grew into a beautiful, energetic child. However, when Ny reached 18 months, her mother’s joy turned to sadness. Ny was diagnosed as deaf and mute.

As she grew, Ny’s mother saw her sitting in class alone, unable to understand the lessons or interact with the other children. The only thing about school that brought Ny joy was the annual school recitals.

She loved watching the rehearsals, longing to be on stage as she mimicked the other children’s movements. But every year, Ny’s mother made the decision to keep her at home, fearing that Ny would be upset if she wasn’t chosen to perform.

Then, you came through. A friend introduced Ny’s mother to New Beginnings, the deaf school that you provide. Finally-- a place where Ny could be heard and seen! There were students like her! One day, it was announced that New Beginnings students would put on a talent show. When Ny was selected to join, her face lit up with a bright smile. She was finally going to perform!

On the day of the show, Ny couldn’t contain her excitement. When the performance began, Ny stood on stage, her heart full of joy. Though she could not hear the music, she moved gracefully, guided by her teacher. She and her friends performed “Living Like Flowers” in sign language, and the audience cheered loudly.

When the performance ended and Ny returned home, her joy was evident. She ran to her mother, signing that she had been able to perform and dance on stage, her face beaming with pride. As Ny’s mother watched the video of her daughter, tears streamed down her face. In that moment, she realized that the world could indeed be a beautiful place—one where your generous support gives children like Ny a chance. Thank you for making this journey of hope and healing possible for Ny and countless others like her.
