Just days from now, a long-time dream of 9-year-old Khoa will come true. He will go to school with the kids in his village. Born with a cleft lip and palate, Khoa could not speak and was unable to feed himself. Throughout his whole life, his parents have taken him to the forest each day where they harvest vegetables for a living. There, they could feed, protect, and talk to him. With each passing year, Khoa was more dejected to see his older sister go off to school--a place where he was not welcome.
About ten months ago, your love made a way to schedule Khoa’s cleft lip/palate surgery. During pre-op testing, a serious heart condition was discovered--also requiring surgery. After three months on a waiting list, Khoa had that procedure in the winter. And then...just last week...Khoa’s cleft lip and palate were repaired. He is now back home, healing--and preparing for school!
With generous compassion, you have walked with Khoa every step of the way. You comforted him with the hope of healing. You reassured his worried mom and dad at the hospital. You encouraged his sister who thought she might never walk with her little brother to school. You were always there to make a way for Khoa’s dream to come true.
