Riding With Confidence

Deaf students learn travel safety for independent living in the home, school and community

Navigating narrow, busy streets in Vietnamese towns holds risks for anyone, but especially for the hearing impaired. Thanks to your generosity, our creative teachers at New Beginnings School for the Deaf designed and taught a Traffic Safety course. In addition to basic pedestrian safety rules, students learned all the different road signs, principles of traffic patterns, and the importance of wearing helmets. One student, Bao, told his teacher, “I feel like I can be a normal part of the community.” With less fear and vulnerability on the road, deaf students gain more confidence in all areas of life. YOU did that! On their behalf, thank you!
